How to put your services on sale without discounting everything
You do not have to edit every price by hand to run a promotion. Put a whole category on sale in one place, let the discount come off automatically at checkout, and switch it back off when the week is over.
A good promotion should be quick to set up and quick to end. The problem with most booking tools is that a sale means opening every service, editing the price, and then remembering to put it all back next week. By the third service you have already made a typo. So people avoid running offers at all, which is a shame, because a well-timed one fills a quiet week.
Put a category on sale in one place
Your services are already grouped into categories, things like Facials, Colour, or Manicures. A category sale lets you set one number against the whole group. Type 20 next to Facials and every facial you offer is 20 percent off. New facials you add later are included automatically, so you are not chasing a list. The client sees the sale price on your booking page, and the discount comes off when they pay, without a code to remember.
Let clients book the right person at the right price
Not every chair costs the same to run. A senior stylist with a waitlist is worth more than a junior building a book, and clients understand that. You can set a price level for each team member, so the same service quietly costs a little more with your senior and a little less with your junior. When a client picks who they want, they see that person's price before they book. It rewards your best people and gives price-sensitive clients an honest way in.
When a sale actually earns its keep
A discount is not free money, so point it where it does work you could not get otherwise. A few that tend to pay off:
- Fill a slow day. Put one category on sale for the middle of the week and leave your busy Saturday at full price.
- Launch something new. A short intro price on a new treatment gets the first bookings and the first reviews.
- Move end-of-season stock or a service you want to retire, so the calendar clears without a fire sale on everything.
- Reward the quiet months. A gentle sale in your off-season keeps regulars coming in when they might otherwise skip.
Turning it off is the easy part
Set the sale back to zero and every price in that category returns to normal on the next booking. You are not unwinding a batch of edits or hoping you remembered them all. That is the whole point of setting it in one place. Run the offer for exactly as long as you meant to, then end it, and get on with your week.
