Client and booking tags: label, filter and email
Client tags are your team's labels, like VIP or Bridal. Put them on clients and bookings, see them on the calendar, and email the subscribed clients who have one.
Client tags are your team's own labels, like VIP, Patch test done or Bridal. Make one once. A client's tags show on the client list, and a booking's tags on the calendar and the booking.
How to switch it on
- 01Open Tags
Go to Clients and press Tags.
- 02Name it
Under Add a tag, type a Name of up to 40 characters.
- 03Choose where it goes
Under For, pick Clients and bookings, Clients only or Bookings only. Then pick a Colour.
- 04Save
Press Add tag. You can use it straight away.
You can keep up to 200 tags. Making and changing them needs Manage the business. Deleting one also needs Delete records, and a tick to confirm when it is in use.
Tag a client or a booking
On a client's page, pick a tag under Add a tag and press Add. A booking's page works the same way, and the New booking form has Tags (optional) to tick as you book. Tagging a booking needs Edit the calendar.
Calendar entries and the client list show up to two chips, then a count of the rest. Short calendar entries show coloured dots instead. The booking panel lists every tag in full.
Filter your client list by tag
On Clients, tap a tag in the Tags row to see who has it. Tap another, and the list narrows to clients who have both.
Email clients by tag
In Grow, Newsletters, choose an audience such as Clients tagged Bridal. It follows the same opt-in rules as every other audience, so only clients who said yes to marketing get it. A deleted tag sends to nobody.
Who sees tags
Tags don't show on your booking pages or in client emails, and they are left out of AI assistants and webhooks. Apps you connect with an API key that can read clients or bookings do see them. A client who downloads or asks for their data sees the tags on them, so name tags as you would say them to the client.
Questions owners ask
Can I use a tag for allergies?
Keep medical details out of tags. Add them to the client's record as Allergy or reaction instead, which is always shown first.
What happens to tags when I merge two client records?
The record you keep carries every tag either one had, each once.
Do tags show up in my exports?
Booking tags do. Export bookings (CSV) on the calendar adds a Tags column when a booking in the file has one, for someone with See analytics & earnings, Export data and See everyone's calendar. The client list's Export CSV has no tags.
