Set pay periods and download payroll
Choose how often you pay your team, then download each pay period's commission, bonuses and tips for your payroll system.
What it is
Payroll shows one pay period at a time, person by person: hours booked, services and products sold, commission, goal bonus, tips and the total. You choose whether pay periods run weekly, fortnightly, twice a month or monthly, and from which day. Until you set them, pay periods are calendar months.
Why it helps
Pay day stops being a copy and paste job. The Payroll CSV holds every figure, and the Wagepoint and ADP Workforce Now files are laid out for those systems' imports, matched by each person's payroll number. Tips are their own column, never commissioned and never taxed.
How to use it
- 1Open Money → Staff earnings (or Commission rules) and tap Payroll at the top. Seeing it needs 'See analytics & earnings'. It opens on the last pay period that ended; pick another under 'Pay period' and tap Show.
- 2Under 'Pay periods', choose how often you Pay (Weekly, Fortnightly, Twice a month or Monthly) and the date under Starting, then tap 'Save pay periods'. A change can start from the first day of the pay period you are in, or a later day up to a year ahead. Monthly periods start on the 1st to the 28th, and twice a month runs from the 1st and the 16th. Changing them needs 'Manage the business' as well.
- 3Add each person's payroll number, their Employee ID in Wagepoint or File # in ADP: Settings → Team, tap the pencil on their card and fill in 'Payroll number' under Pay, then tap 'Save pay'. Payroll lists anyone still missing one.
- 4Under 'Download for your payroll system', tap 'Payroll CSV' or 'Wagepoint earnings file'. For ADP, enter your ADP company code, Batch ID and your Commission, Bonus and Tips codes, then tap 'ADP paydata file'. Downloads need 'Export data' and are recorded in the audit log.
- 5The Payroll CSV has everyone, booth renters included: hours booked, visits, services and products before tax, refunds and voids, commission, goal bonus, tips, booth rent owed and the total. The Wagepoint and ADP files have employees only.
- 6QuickBooks Payroll has no file import for commission, bonus or tips, so enter them in the pay run from the Payroll CSV.
