Gift card promo codes, resends, reissues and history
Let a promo code take money off gift cards bought online, resend or reissue a card, see what happened to it, and download every card as a CSV.
What it is
Every gift card has its own page, opened from the list on Gift cards, with what is left on it, who it is for and everything that has happened to it. From there you can send the gift card email again or reissue the card with a new code. A promo code can also take money off the price of a gift card bought online, once you allow it.
Why it helps
When a client has lost their code, or a card went to the wrong inbox, you can sort it out in a few taps and see exactly where the money went. A gift card offer, such as 10% off cards in December, runs on the promo codes you already have.
How to use it
- 1To let a promo code work on gift cards, open Grow, then Promo codes. Tick Can be used on gift cards when you create the code, or tap Allow on gift cards beside one you already have. Every code is off for gift cards until you do.
- 2The code takes money off the price, never the card's value: a $100 card at 10% off costs $90 and is worth $100. The buyer types it under Promo code on your gift card page and sees what they will pay before they check out. The code has to be live, not expired and have a use left, and it counts as used once the payment goes through. A code that would make a card free is refused, and cards you issue yourself never carry one.
- 3Open Catalog, then Gift cards, and tap a card under All gift cards to open its page. History lists each step, oldest first: issued (with any promo code and what it took off), paid, emailed, redeemed and into whose credit, voided and reissued. Anyone with Manage the business also sees who did each step.
- 4Resend email sends the gift card email again to the recipient on file, with the code and what is left on it. You cannot type a different address here. It shows for an active card with a recipient email, to anyone with Adjust loyalty and gift cards. Without that permission a card's code shows only its last four characters.
- 5Reissue with a new code voids the old code at once and moves what is left on it to a new code, which is emailed to the recipient if there is an address on file. Tap Yes, reissue to go ahead, or Keep this card. Reissuing needs Adjust loyalty and gift cards and Manage the business. Each card's History names the other by its last four characters.
- 6Tap Download CSV at the top of Gift cards for every card, newest first, with the columns Code, Status, Original value, Remaining value, Currency, Issued, Expires, Recipient email, Promo code and Promo discount. Codes show only their last four characters. The download needs Export data, Recipient email is filled in only for someone who can also manage the business, and each download is recorded in the Audit log.
