Special dates and public holiday closures
Open on a day you are usually closed, close on a day you are usually open, set holiday hours, or close on every public holiday at once.
What it is
Special dates change your hours for one date and leave your weekly hours as they are. A date can be closed all day, or open with its own hours, such as 10:00 to 14:00 on Christmas Eve. You can also close on every national public holiday of New Zealand or Australia in one go, from today to the end of 2028.
Why it helps
Clients can only book the hours you are open, so a holiday, a short day or a one-off Sunday is right on your booking page the moment you save it. There is no changing your weekly hours and remembering to change them back.
How to use it
- 1Open Settings, then Opening hours, and tap the Special dates link under your hours. Anyone who can open the page sees the list. Changing it needs Edit the calendar.
- 2Under Add a special date, pick the Date and choose Closed all day, or Open, with these hours and set Opens and Closes. Tap Save date. A date can be up to five years ahead, and saving a date that is already special replaces its hours.
- 3Holiday hours are one opening and one closing time, with no break. On a date you open, clients can book the team members who work that day of the week, within the hours you set.
- 4To close on public holidays, choose your Country under Close on public holidays. The card lists every date it will close. Tap the button under it to close them all. New Zealand has the national holidays, Matariki included, and the Mondayised days. Australia has the seven national holidays and their national weekend days. Regional anniversary days and state holidays are not included, so add yours as special dates.
- 5The import only ever closes dates. It never changes a date you have already set, and every date it adds shows in Upcoming special dates, where Remove puts that date back to your weekly hours.
- 6Bookings already on a date you close or shorten stay booked. The list says how many there are, so you can move or cancel them on the calendar.
- 7Special dates apply to the whole business: every branch, each on its own calendar date. A date cannot be special at one branch only. To keep one person, a room or part of a day free of bookings instead, use Blocked times on the calendar. To charge more on a holiday rather than close, use a surcharge.
