# Set up a booth or chair renter

Mark a team member as renting a booth or chair, set their rent, and keep them apart from your employees.

## What it is

A booth renter is someone on your team who rents a booth or a chair from you instead of working for commission. From the day you pick, they earn no commission or goal bonus, keep their own takings and tips, and owe you rent every week, every two weeks or every month.

## Why it helps

Their bookings stay in your calendar, but their money stays out of your team's pay. Payroll works out the rent due in each pay period and gives you a rent statement for them, and Staff earnings and Payroll list renters apart from your employees.

## How to use it

1. Open Settings → Team and tap the pencil on the person's card. The Pay section at the bottom is shown to anyone with 'Manage the business' and 'See analytics & earnings', which owners and admins have by default.
2. Tick '[their name] rents a booth or chair'. Enter the Rent and choose when it is Due: Every week, Every two weeks or Every month.
3. Set 'Renting from' to today or a later day, then tap 'Save pay'. The first rent is due on that day, then every week, fortnight or month after it. A monthly rent due on the 29th to the 31st falls on the last day of a shorter month.
4. Their card now shows a Booth renter badge. To stop, untick the box, pick the day under 'Stops renting from' and tap 'Save pay'. Earlier days keep the commission and rent they had.
5. Open Payroll from the top of Money → Staff earnings. Renters have their own Booth renters table with their takings, tips and Rent owed, and a 'Rent statement' link listing the rent due in that pay period.
6. Renters are left out of the Wagepoint and ADP payroll files. The Payroll CSV includes them, marked as Booth renter.
