# Ask clients questions while they book

Ask a few short questions when clients book, for one service or for all of them, and see the answers on the booking.

## What it is

Booking questions are short questions a client answers while they book, such as Is your hair past your shoulders? Ask one for a single service or for all of them, make it required or not, and choose the kind of answer: Short text, Long text, Single choice, Multiple choice, Yes / no, Number or Date. They are asked on your booking page, in your website widget and through the booking API.

## Why it helps

You learn what you need to prepare before the client walks in, like how long their hair is or whether it is their first visit, without a phone call or a separate form. The answers wait on the booking, where your team already looks.

## How to use it

1. Open Catalog, then Services or Forms, and tap Booking questions. Changing them needs Manage the business, and removing one also needs Delete records.
2. Under Add a question, set Asked for to All services or to one service, and choose the Answer type. Type the Question and, if you like, some Help text. For Single choice or Multiple choice, type the Choices one a line.
3. Tick Clients must answer it to book online to make it required, then tap Add question. A service asks at most 10 questions, its own and the ones for all services together. Use Up and Down to change the order. Questions for all services are asked first, then the service's own.
4. Clients see them under A few questions before they book, with the required ones marked. Your team sees the same questions in New booking and can leave any of them blank.
5. The answers show on the booking's page under Booking questions, where your team can fill them in or change them, and in the booking's panel on the calendar. They are in the bookings CSV, one column a question, for anyone who sees every calendar, and in the client's own data export. Changing a question later never changes the answers already given.
6. Do not ask for medical or health details here. For health history, allergies, medication or consent, use an intake form, which is kept apart from the booking and signed by the client. A question that reads as asking for health details is flagged when you save it, so you can move it to a form or reword it.
