# Block a room, or repeat blocked time every week

Recurring blocked time repeats every week, for up to two years. You can also take one treatment room or chair out of online booking without closing.

> **The short version**
>
> - Open Calendar. The Blocked times card is under the calendar.
> - Under Block, choose Everyone, a team member, or a room or chair.
> - A blocked room only takes away the services that need it.
> - Tick Repeats weekly to repeat a block on the days you pick, for up to two years.
> - Remove one day, that day and the ones after it, or the whole series.

To block a room, choose it under Block in the Blocked times card on your calendar. To make blocked time recur, tick Repeats weekly before you press Block time. You need Edit the calendar to do either.

## How to block a treatment room or chair

1. **Open Blocked times.** Go to Calendar and scroll to the Blocked times card.
2. **Set the time.** Choose the First day and Last day, then From and To, or tick All day.
3. **Pick the room.** Under Block, choose it from A room or chair, which lists the rooms and chairs you have set up. Add a reason if you like, such as Deep clean.
4. **Block it.** Press Block time.

Only services that need that room lose those times. If another room of the same kind is free, the booking goes there instead. When every room of that kind is blocked, those times go. Services that need no room are not touched.

In the day view, a Rooms and chairs strip shows what holds each room. If your team books into a blocked room from the admin, they are warned first and can press Book anyway. A class in a blocked room is flagged, never cancelled.

## How to repeat blocked time every week

1. **Tick Repeats weekly.** First day becomes Starting.
2. **Choose the days.** Pick one or more days under Repeats weekly on.
3. **Choose how often.** Under Every, pick Week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks or 4 weeks.
4. **Set Until.** It is set about three months ahead, and can go up to two years. Then press Block time.

A weekly block keeps to your clock. A 9:00 to 10:00 block stays 9:00 to 10:00 when daylight saving starts or ends. If you change your business's time zone, weekly blocks keep their times on the new clock.

## How to remove one day or the whole series

Remove a weekly block from its day on the calendar, then choose This one, This and following, or The whole series. The days of a weekly block can't be dragged.

## Blocked time, a break or a special date?

- A lunch break the whole business takes belongs in Opening hours, in Settings. One person's break goes in their own hours on Team.
- A day the whole business shuts, like a public holiday, is a special date. Open Special dates from Opening hours.
- Anything else that comes round each week, like a team meeting or fortnightly training, is a weekly block.

## Questions owners ask

### Does blocking a room cancel bookings already in it?

No. Bookings already in that room stay put, so move them yourself if you need to.

### Does a weekly block move when the clocks change?

No. It stays at the same time on your business's clock.

### Can I block every other week?

Yes. Under Every, choose 2 weeks. The weeks in between stay free.

## Where to start

Block the room you know is out next week, then make your weekly team meeting a repeating block. Our help article Blocking off time has the steps. For a week of leave as one entry, see our post Check clients in, edit bookings and block time off from your calendar.
